A Valentine Gift Of Love And Forgiveness

The best valentine gift we can give is the gift of love. Valentines Day is known around the world as "The Day Of Love". It is a time to remember our loved ones and show them a gift of love and appreciation. This Valentines season was a little different for me.

Around Valentine's Day, there was a tragic accident in my local news that caught my attention. You probably know of those kinds of accidents. Where innocent people die and the story brings tears to your eyes. It's those kinds of stories that make you feel truly grateful of what you have.

In this case, a family car was hit by a teenage driver, causing a father and husband to lose his pregnant wife, a daughter and a son in a split second. He and 2 sons survived the wreck. Yes, there are too many stories in the news like this, but what makes this story stand out to me is the forgiveness he gave so quickly and readily to the teenager that took so much from him.

He also issued a challenge to the public with valentine's day coming up to do one single act of kindness, mercy or forgiveness in honor of his wife who just passed away. He said the best valentine gift would be for him to share those stories with his surviving sons.

Here is the whole story.

I decided to take on his challenge. There is no better gift we can give another than a gift of love. I decided to chop off and donate my hair to the locks of love program. This program helps people who lose their hair from cancer and other illnesses. My donated hair will become a wig to help them feel their best even though they are going through their worst and lowest times.

I've had long hair ever since I've been married, 7 years. But I feel there is no greater cause to chop it off than to help someone else out. My heart goes out to his family, and I hope that my gift will help another family in need.

As women, we have the sacred privilege of bearing, raising, and protecting children. Perhaps that's why we celebrate the birth of a child with such a joyous occasion as a baby shower.

As a hostess to a baby shower, you are sharing your gift of love with the new mom with a celebration in honor of her and her baby. It is my hope that we can use our voice and influence as women to bless the lives of everyone around us.
