How To Thank The Baby Shower Hostess

What is a proper thank you for the host(s) of your baby shower. Any ideas?

Our Answer:

Hi Jackie,

Thank you for your etiquette question. The best way to thank your baby shower hostesses is to give something simple and from the heart.

A sincere and well thought out thank you note is a great way to tell your hostesses "thank you". It is your choice if you want to go beyond a thank you note and give your hostesses an actual gift. If you do choose to give them a gift, it is best to keep it inexpensive. After all, the whole purpose of the baby shower was to shower "you" with gifts and baby supplies.

If you would like to get your hostess a gift, make it simple and from the heart.

Think of something that your hostess would enjoy having. It could be something to help her relax, after throwing you such a fabulous baby shower. Some ideas could be a candle, bubble bath, a relaxing cd, chocolates (always a winner!!),lotion, a movie theater gift card, a manicure or pedicure.

You could put a few things together in a little gift basket for her. Here are some ideas:

A movie night basket- a Redbox gift card, popcorn, and some theater candy.

Breakfast bakery basket- could have homemade or gourmet jams, croissants or scones from a bakery.

Pancake breakfast basket- pancake mix, pancake syrup, and a nice whisk in a pretty basket.

Pampering basket- body scrub, body bath gel, loofah scrubber, eye mask, nail polish, a nice scented candle or a soothing cd.

You can also frame a picture of both of you from the shower with a sweet thank you note.

You can also make something homemade. Here are some fun homemade baby shower hostess gifts you can make:

  • Homemade bath scrub

  • Pizza herb garden- take a terracotta pot and paint it a solid color. Get herb seed packets for all the herbs you would use in a pizza sauce. Some herbs you can use are basil, parsley, thyme, and oregano. If it is during the summer, you can buy the actual herb plants and plan them in the pot.

  • Homemade caramel sauce

  • Homemade chocolate sauce

  • A cookies in a jar mix

  • Homemade truffles or chocolates

  • Homemade soaps

  • Good luck with the baby on the way and baby shower!
