Tea Party Baby Shower

I would like to throw my daughter a sprinkle baby shower with a tea party/brunch theme. She went into labor the day of her 1st baby shower & completely missed it! So now she is expecting her second child and we want to have another shower that she won't miss! We are thinking of having just a couple of games & keeping it low key. It's mainly a big girl get together.

Our Answer:

Hi Linda,

I'm sorry your daughter had to miss out on her first baby shower. A tea party baby shower sounds like it would be perfect for her. I have compiled some ideas for you. You definitely don't need to use all of the ideas, you can make the shower as simple or elaborate as you would like.

When I think of a tea party, it is Victorian with roses and bears. Decorate the room with teddy bears, lace and strings of pearls. Since it is a tea party, Use table linens or a lace table cloth to bring in the Victorian idea. For a table centerpiece, fresh flowers would be very elegant and would smell lovely. If you have any old fashioned woman's hats, tulle, or silk plants you can add those to fill the room and set the tone for the shower. Christmas lights also add some nice ambiance.

Since you are throwing a baby sprinkle, it also gives you the option to go as simple as you would like. It is amazing how some balloons and crepe paper can really bring a room to life. Opalescent pink and pearl colored balloons are really elegant to use.

For your baby shower food, lay out your favorite selection of teas (or other beverages) for guests to enjoy. Use finger foods, cookies and sandwiches to compliment them.

I also like to add a special element to the baby showers I host. Here is a really cute angel poem I found that can be put in a picture frame for your daughter.

I hope these ideas give you to a great start with the planning. Good Luck with the baby shower!
