How to Make a Diaper Baby
~ This diaper baby idea was submitted to our website by Cindy from Canada. ~
To make this cute baby, you will need:
- a small package of small diapers "Pampers Swaddler" (40-50 diapers)
- a pacifier
- elastics
- and an outfit
Roll a secure with an elastic 4 diapers (2 arms, 2 legs). If filling a baby sleeper, you may want to use 8 diapers (2 each for arms and legs).
To Make the Body:
Open 1 diaper (loosen the elastic from the folded part). Roll this diaper loosely, or around a toilet paper roll.
Next, loosen another diaper and start rolling this diaper around the first one. Start this diaper with its fold over the seam part of the first rolled diaper. Loosen all the diapers and keep rolling in a ball (like making a snowman).
I always say to myself that I am going to take note of how many diapers I use...but never do. Just make 2 balls of diapers ...1 larger (body) than the other (head smaller ball). Use elastics to hold each ball together. I guess you could also wrap an elastic around sections.
If it's too hard to manage.... you have 10 diapers rolled and its getting hard to manage, use an elastic, then keep rolling until you have the desired size ball. Put the small ball on top of the large one. I use a large, narrow elastic around both of them.
Between the 2 elastics on the sides of the balls...place a rolled arm, on each side. (the elastic around the individual ball, and the elastic around both balls) Do the same on the bottom for the legs.
Dress your diaper baby. If you have short sleeves, use 1 diaper each for the arms, for long sleeves use 2 diapers each. Just take 1 of the 2 rolled diapers and place it down the sleeve Then take the sleeve and put it over the other arm or leg that is attached. Put a pacifier in between the diapers on the front of the face of small diaper ball where the mouth would be.
Put a hat on the head. Decorate anyway you want. Add wiggly eyes if you would like. Enjoy!

I made this diaper baby for a friend who had been trying for years to have a baby. I thought this gift would be a perfect way to celebrate when she finally got her little one! I found an adorable pink outfit and matched it with a cute pink hat and pacifier. I placed it in a gift basket and surrounded it with sock roses. It was beautiful!

I made this baby for my sister in law. I started out with a cute summer outfit. Then I added a lacy white bonnet and a matching purple pacifier. I finished it off by attaching a baby rattle to the arm with white curling ribbon. It was easy and fun to make!

This is a diaper baby that I made for my cousin's shower. To make baby, I bought a package of 72 Pampers diapers size 2. For the baby I used 50 diapers. I began by loosening the diapers and rolling them to form the body. Continue doing this until you've reached the desired size. I used elastics to hold the diapers together. The same was done to make the head of the baby only smaller. One large elastic was used to hold the head and body together. I rolled diapers together to form the arms and legs and tucked them into the elastic that was used to hold the head and body together. Blue tissue paper was used to wrap the head, arms and legs.
The baby is dressed with an onesie undershirt, shirt, pants, hat and a bib. All the clothing used was 3 to 6 months. A rattle was attached to the one arm with curling ribbon. I cut a slit in the tissue paper where the mouth would be and inserted the pacifier. I bought a wicker basket and lined it with a receiving blanket. The remainder of the diapers were rolled and tied with curling ribbon. These are beneath the baby's head.
I had a couple more articles of clothing which are also inside the basket and tied with ribbon. Tissue paper was used as a filler around the outside of the basket. I used another receiving blanket to put over the baby. To finish it off I attached curling ribbon to the handles on the basket.

My daughter bought her husband a Harley Davidson Motorcycle for his wedding present, so I had to include something to do with Harley's for her shower. I made several pretty things for her, a diaper cake, personalized diaper cupcake, baby carriage, candy wrappers and Hershey kiss roses, but something to do with Harley's had to be added. When I saw a picture of a diaper baby on your web page I thought that would be perfect. Ingredients: 1 Harley outfit, Harley head wrap, 1 gown (with fold overs for hands), 1 pair pants, Harley socks, 1 pacifier ,glue on eyes, a box size 2 diapers & extra-large rubber bands.
For the Head - I rolled 3, size 2 diapers, and then continued by opening a diaper and wrapping the first 3. With the next diaper opened, wrap the other way, to form a ball. Continue wrapping, securing with rubber bands as needed, until you get the size you want. You will put the last diaper on later, to cover the rubber band.
For the Body - Make a small ball, like the head, but then continue wrapping around in one direction to desired size. Use rubber bands as needed to secure. Then push together, so it will be taller, and not look like a ball.
Arms & Legs: Roll 1 diaper, but insert part of rubber band length ways before closing all the way. Then close and use another rubber band to secure opposite end. Add another rolled diaper to end and secure with rubber band to make it longer. With the part of the rubber band that's showing, attach arms and legs by wrapping around the body at an angle.
Attaching Head and Body: Place 2 - 3 flat diapers on top of body, to serve a neck. Attach head and body with rubber band. Use another diaper to wrap head, so that it covers rubber bands in front and put under the rubber bands in back to hold.
Dress you baby & put on hat. Glue on eyes and make a very small slit for the pacifier. This will be the only diaper she will not be able to use. I placed it on a chest in the corner of the room. When people walked by, they had to take a second look. It turned out really cute.

I made this diaper baby for my daughter for her baby shower. I saw the ones you had displayed and thought what a great idea, so I decided to make one myself. I love the way it came out. Thanks for the idea.

It is held together with rubber bands. It also has a baby hat, blanket and a very nice baby outfit that is pink to match the hat. It was put into a nice basket to look like bassinet. There are also baby gloves and booties and on the bottom of baby are baby shampoo and lotion, a rattle and a bottle.

I took 1 pack of size 1 quality diapers and rolled each one in the shape of a cake. 1 large for the body and a small for the head. Then I put a baby outfit on it and then posed it in a basket to look like a sleeping baby.

Here is my first diaper baby, made totally out of usable stuff. I had to rubber band the binkie to stay flat, the face "skin" is made out of an onesie. It was quite the topic of conversation!

This was for my daughters baby shower. It was made with diapers, sleeper, baby cap, toy, and a picture of my granddaughter that I fit to the size of the baby. I rolled the diapers and put them in the sleeper and blew the face up on the computer to fit the size of the baby. I just think putting the face of a baby makes it look so much cuter and this was my daughters other baby that I used the picture of.

I saw a diaper baby one day and wanted to make it.It was hard at first, but I did it. Have been making them ever since. I used about 30 diapers for baby.It was 30 diapers, bodysuit, hat, mittens, socks, blanket, pacifier and holder. To make it, I just filled the bodysuit up. I used 2 diapers for each of the arms and legs, and the rest goes for the body. I did put more for the butt than the back.
