Measure the Belly Game

Pass around a roll of toilet paper to all the players and have them rip a piece of toilet paper however long they think will fit around the mom-to-be's belly ....whoever has the right length wins a prize.

Great game. Some other variations you can do with it is to use ribbon or yarn. The right colors can add a touch of whimsy or rustic charm to the party as a decoration when you are done with the game. If you like the idea of the game, but are a little worried that the expecting mom might be uncomfortable with the idea of measuring her belly, this belly scratch off game is a fun alternative. Guests can scratch off the belly to find out why it is so big. There are fun items in each card the card with the baby in it is the winner. Hope that helps. Have fun at the baby shower!

Another Silly Twist

This twist got EVERYONE at my baby shower! My mother handed out pink crepe streamer (for my girl :) ) and merely told people "tear off however much you think you need." naturally everyone assumed she was referring to how much they needed to match my belly size, and they began eyeballing my stomach and tearing off their pieces, and when everyone was finished she made the announcement that the winner was the one who was closest to the size of myself and my boyfriend standing behind me!! It was great!

We used yarn for this game

We played this game as a gathering activity as the guests were arriving. We had different spools of yarn available for the guests with instructions to snip the length they guessed was closest to mommy's belly size. We had a yardstick there to help a little. ;) Once everyone had made their guesses, we labeled the yarn with the names and set it aside for later. Then sometime during the baby shower, we measured mommy's tummy. We actually gave prizes to the top 2 guesses, because they were so close. It was a fun activity for everyone and the yarn strips actually added a pretty decoration with all of the colors.

A New Twist On Old Games

This is a little twist on an old baby shower game. Have the guest cut a piece of string to their preference. In the old game the one that had the piece closest to the mother's belly size one the game. The twist is, when it's time to give the winner their prize, you announce that the winner will be the one with the longest or shortest piece of string. Another game to switch around is take a platter and place baby items or kitchen items or whatever on it, then call "Sue" to come on out (she'll be carrying the platter out). She'll walk around the room giving everyone a chance to look at the platter, but don't say anything about the platter, just let everyone think they'll have to remember everything on it. Then tell "Sue" to go into another room, and ask everyone what "Sue" was wearing and what color.
